Natalie had a pretty busy day with moving around slowly and getting IVs out. We topped off the afternoon with an ambulance ride to Scottish Rite. No, they did not use the nights or sirens. Lights and sirens in an ambulance are not really a great thing, if you think about it.
We had an amazing transport team, Brandon and Brenda! They did the best the could keep the ride a smooth as possible. She slept through the ride, which was about 15-20 mins from the time they loaded her on to the bed, rolled her through the hospital, loaded her in the ambulance, drove her to Scottish Rite and got her in her new bed.
We thought we were on top of her pain, but about 20 minutes ago, it was absolutely heartbreaking. She started screaming out in intense pain. We could not figure out how to position her comfortably. We finally got her settled on her side and gave her a high dose of pain meds that knock her out. I have never been so happy to give my child pain meds in my entire life. There was only one other time I remember her pain being this bad and that was after her second heart surgery, but she was 2 months old, so I could swaddle her and rock her. She brought tears to our eyes.
Please pray for pain management tonight and tomorrow! Our Dr’s words to use were, “We plan to really push her tomorrow”. I am truly terrified for that
right now.
Larry is going to take the night shift tonight, so I can get some sleep. The 30 minutes of sleep is catching up with me.
Thank you all for your prayers, messages on fb and texts. We feel so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing prayer warriors!
