We had a pretty quiet night for once! We turned off the light around 11:30 for the night. Natalie went straight to sleep. I was able to get the nurse and respiratory therapist to get in the same schedule, so we would only have to wake her up twice last night versus multiple times. They both came in about 12:30am for meds and for a little lung therapy (basically she just has to blow into the machine to make sure her lungs are clear). She was able to go straight back sleep.
The nurse came back in around 4:30am for another round of meds. At this point Nat started complaining about her back hurting, so we got her a little heating pack for her back and off she went back to dreamland. She did ask me, why she had to have back surgery😢.
Dr Richards came by around 8am. He let us know her X-ray from yesterday looked great! We are going to be moving rooms this morning, bc there is a new spine patient coming from surgery and they need to ICU room.
He also said we may be ready to leave the hospital tomorrow😳. I personally need to see a ton of improvement before I am comfortable with that. I am hoping we can stay until Sunday at least. Natalie is ready to be back in Amarillo, but we will stay in Dallas a few extra days to be safe, before we drove 6 hours away.
Larry got home last night and Carter was so happy to have him home! I think this has been pretty hard on Carter too.
My mom is flying in this morning to hang out with us a few days. Natalie is pretty excited to see her GiGi, especially since GiGi is bringing her a surprise🛍
Prayers for today...she needs to start eating more than one cup of chicken noodle soup a day. You know it is bad, when I have to stop writing this, because the dietary lady calls you, because you have not called her for breakfast yet.
We also plan to get her up and walking more and she needs to still go poop. Yep, I said it, but for all you that have had surgery, you know the drill and understand.
She is still feeling a lot of pain, nothing like the other night though. She is going feel pain or discomfort for a while. She did just have 4 screws and 2 rods place in her spine. I would probably still be screaming in pain!
She does not want to move a lot either, but we need to get her up and moving more or she will get stuff. Please be praying for strength for that as well.
One of my favorite songs right is by Caleb and Kelsey, Oceans/You make me Brave. You can find them on Spotify, YouTube or Facebook. The songs brings me to tears, as I am reminded when we have Faith in God, He makes us Brave.
The lyrics are so powerful...
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find you in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand
And I will call upon your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in your embrace
For I am yours
And you are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and you won't start now
As your love, in wave after wave
Crashes over me, crashes over me
For you are for us
You are not against us
Champion of heaven, you made a way for all to enter in
Spirit, lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever you would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence my saviour (you make me brave)
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders (you make me brave)
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves
You make me brave
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the promises you made
My soul will rest in your embrace
For I am yours
And you are mine
