Birthday + Friends + A Small Scare = Worn Out

This past Friday was my birthday and what a better birthday cake then one made by Natalie and my mom🤗. Natalie went to my mom’s for a bit to bake me a yummy cake with lots and lots of sprinkles on it (more sparkles the better she thinks). I got to take Carter lunch and run a few much needed errands.

Carter and I went out the American Heart Association Heart Walk to help represent Mended Little Hearts of Amarillo. While we were there, we met two CHD sisters in their 30s. One had the same heart condition as Natalie, tricuspid atresia. I loved seeing how amazing she was doing! I always find it encouraging to see these Heart Warriors❤️

We did have a small scare this weekend. She was walking into the kitchen on Saturday morning and was trying to squeeze between the refrigerator and Larry packing a cooler and she almost fell on her😳. She got herself with a drawer and Larry caught her before she fell completely over. She was of course completely freaked out, as we all were. She seemed fine, just a little shaken.

She and I relaxed most all of Saturday, while Larry and Carter did guy stuff. Natalie had a little friend come over Saturday evening for about an hour to hang out with her. She has been missing all of her friends so much lately.

By the end of the evening, I noticed Natalie’s back seemed a bit swollen and she was in a some pain, more than normal lately. I think she had over done it and with the small scare it was just to much for the day. By Sunday though, the swelling had gone back down.

We decided to try and go to a pumpkin carving at a friends house for an hour. Natalie set there and talked to her friends, while I carved her pumpkins. She was my supervisor😜.

Poor things was super worn out and fall asleep at 7pm. I am reminded that she is still not back to her full strength and self and we still have a ways to go, but I am so proud of how she is doing. We will just continue to take it day by day.

She is currently in the other room working on school work with one of our amazing homebound teachers! Then, we plan to have a very relaxing, resting and taking us easy kind of day/week.
