Natalie has been doing amazingly since my last update. She is getting stronger each day and feeling so much better.
She is still struggling getting comfortable at night. She toss and turns throughout the night. I typically get up with her 2-3 times a night, trying to help her get comfortable or easy any pain she might be having.
She rarely has been in pain during the day, but typically has pain at night, which is why I think it is so hard for to get comfortable. During the day, she likes to stand or she sits straight up. The child has incredible posture now, who wouldn’t with two rods helping you.
Last week was a crazy week for us. My son finished up his last two football games this weekend. Natalie went over to my mom’s house to play (change of atmosphere was nice) so, I could go watch Carter’s football games.
Carter is a 5th grader, so our elementary school had a float in the high achool’s homecoming parade this past week. Natalie and I decided to go watch the parade., especially since Larry pulled the float. She always enjoys it, and they through candy (added bonus).
I had reminded her over and over before going, that she could not go after the candy and she had to sit the entire time. She was so good and minded me. I had a chair and her pillow for her to lean up against. Her sweet friends helped fill a bag of candy for her. And of course when Carter’s float came around, he and several of his friends dumped tons of candy in her lap.
Natalie had a blast at the parade, but ended the night in a lot of pain.
Most days you look at Natalie and would not even realize she had surgery 3 weeks ago, but when she tries to do to much, the realization of surgery hits. We are still taking it in day at a time, but overall she is doing incredible. I would have thought she would still be having a difficult time doing anything, but just like every surgery she has had, she always blows my mind with how quickly she heals.
She is still struggling mentally with not being able to go run and play like the other kids. She knows this is only temporary, but it is still hard for an 8 year old to be told, you can’t run around and play on the playground right now.
As far as school is going, I am afraid she will never want to go back full time😜. She loves having 2 hours of school a day, an 1 hour with a teacher and an 1 hour we me. I do believe this one on one time has been really good for to work in some areas she has been struggling with.
We continue to thank you all for your prayers and support! We feels so blessed to have an amazing group of Prayer Warriors that lift us up daily💖
